We celebrate John Adams 70^th birthday with Songs from the Wound-Dresser, poems that Walt Whitman wrote in 1865 and that John Adams describes as being “simultaneously unreserved and tender, perhaps the more intimate memory experienced by Walt Whitman during his years as a volunteer nurse during wartime.” Symphony n.1 in D major, also known as “Titan” was due to its many symphonic innovations considered a real change in the musical genre.
